PROTA – Magnesia based compounds (namely magnesium hydroxide ) have confirmed the advantages of magnesia based alkalis in the bleaching process with added benefits including decreased COD (chemical oxygen demand), decreased DCS (dissolved colloidal substances) and greater strength properties of the bleached pulp.
PROTA – Mg(OH)2 used as the alkali is also known to dissolve less necessary organic material.
